Simon Cowell Hires Brian Friedman To Put The 'Crazy' Back Into X Factor

Simon Cowell has re-hired the show’s most out-there creative director ever and believes the outrageous choreographer will help the new series trounce Strictly.

Brian stepped in as a judge for a short while replacing Louis on 2007’s X Factor before being made creative director. He then became involved in the craziest stylings and performances we’ve seen on the ITV show.

Jedward, Katie Waissel and Wagner were just some of the LOL-some acts that Brian turned his creative hand to.

Their jaw-dropping performances gave the shows in 2009 and 2010 the highest ratings in X Factor history.

Brian went over with Simon to work on the US version in 2011 – and that’s when the UK viewing figures began to flatline a bit.

Now Simon is back, he wants to revive all the drama that had people hooked a few years ago – especially as X Factor, which includes Cheryl Fernandez-Versini , now airs at the same time as BBC rival Strictly.

A source said: “Simon wants Brian to bring back some madness.

“They’ve worked together for a long time now and Simon loves that Brian gets that the show works best when it’s flamboyant, camp and full of drama.

“Brian’s been working with Britney and other big musicians since he’s been back in the US, so he’s used to dealing with huge OTT shows and the diva behaviour that goes with it.

"Simon wants performances and stylings that everyone will be talking about at work on Monday.

“He’s briefed him to work with the contestants to create some iconic moments for this year’s live shows.”
